Though Michelle von Schmidt-Pauli has spent over 40 years studying dressage she has also trained in a variety of disciplines including show jumping, hunters, eventing, combined driving and, most recently, working equitation. During this time Michelle has been under the tutelage of trainers such as Major General Johnathon Burton, Colonel Pauli Wimert and Jack Le Goff. Michelle is well versed in bringing horses and their riders through the stages training.  She believes that the purpose of training is to “ride better” by developing a natural harmony and works to develop partnerships from the beginning.  Michelle is dedicated to teaching with humor and a sense of fun using dressage principles, bio-mechanics and gymnastic exercises to achieve the following concepts:

  • Horsemanship - Solid horsemanship is the key component for all equestrians.  Students are often taught in the barn as well as in the saddle to develop the necessary skills for a successful partnership.

  • Conditioning - Michelle will help to create a working plan for riders and their horses to build up, or keep up, the strength, stamina and muscle that allows them preform their best.

  • Training - Riders are taught the fundamentals of communication and bio-mechanics in the saddle creating a balance that helps their horse perform it’s best.

  • Confidence - Confidence is developed from by using consistent training and communication.  The brilliance of this confidence comes from the understanding what is required and being well prepared to do it.
The enjoyment of horses is, of course, the ultimate goal.
With their generous, brave nature, they are the perfect partner in sport, art and most of all life.
